Guard Mode won't start
Two things are required before it will arm: a Trusted Code (set one from the home screen if you haven't already — it's separate from your iPhone passcode) and Guided Access turned on. BeachGuard walks you through enabling Guided Access itself, including the triple-click of the side button that opens it.
A pickup sounded the alarm instead of asking for Face ID
That's expected under Guided Access. Apple's system Face ID prompt isn't available during a Guided Access session, so a confirmed pickup goes straight to the alarm and asks for your Trusted Code instead — there's no Face ID step to skip. Outside Guided Access, a pickup asks for Face ID first, and a match ends the session silently.
I forgot my Trusted Code
Open BeachGuard's Settings and choose to change or remove the Trusted Code. iOS will ask for device-owner authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode) first — that's intentional, so only the phone's actual owner can reset it.
I can't make an emergency call while it's armed
Emergency calls and Crash Detection are unavailable while Guided Access is active. This is how iOS behaves during Guided Access on any app, not something BeachGuard controls or can override. End Guided Access first — the same triple-click gesture — then call normally.
Does BeachGuard collect any of my data?
No. Motion is processed on your iPhone only while a session is active and discarded when it ends. There's no account, no analytics, and no network requests at all — see the Privacy Policy and Data Practices pages for the full detail.
Something else, or a bug
Email beachguard@proton.me with what happened — your iPhone model and iOS version help if it's a bug. If it's about Guard Mode specifically, note whether Guided Access was on at the time; that's usually the detail that explains it.
